Lanvin & Sergio Rossi Storefront Redesign & re-platform

Lead UX/UI Designer @ The Stable (Agency) — 2022

collaboration

Lanvin Group came to our team at The Stable with a unique challenge — bring two of their high fashion labels (Lanvin & Sergio Rossi) to the Shopify platform while renewing their presence in the U.S. ecom market. All on a tight budget & timeline.

The end result — two unique aesthetics & experiences built from the same code repository and Shopify theme. As the lead UX/UI designer on the project, I worked with our art direction & dev teams to push the limits of theme customization through an innovative & nuanced approach to each design library. Luxury is in the details.

Sergio Rossi’s defined lines & bold type

We initiated the project with our art directors, offering 2x rounds of visual direction for each brand alongside UI mockups. Lanvin & Sergio Rossi both have established legacies and aesthetics — our goal was to curate a look & feel that felt fresh & elevated for the U.S. market, while staying true to that refined heritage.

While honing in on the aesthetic tones, I started collaborating with our dev team to select a base Shopify theme that met business requirements (like filters & search) and was malleable enough to bend to each visual direction. We had a set budget for customizations — global styling and our design libraries (UI kits) would do the heavy lifting.

The balanced, minimal aesthetic emulates Lanvin’s Luxury confidence

Lanvin’s UI was defined by subtle nods to their art deco roots through iconography and delicate line work

As both sites were using the same code repository, functionality & section layouts needed to mirror between them. Each brand’s business requirements and visual preferences added complexity to the puzzle — a balance of dev feasibility, client relations, best practices, and luxury-worthy details.

Through open (and constant) communication with devs and our product owner, we found ways to customize each experience through global styles, typography & visual elements. Compare Sergio Rossi’s extra-large headers & bold borders to Lanvin’s scaled down typography & delicate CTA interactions — the code laid the foundation while our UI dictated the tone.

Applying different UI to the same section

Playful iconography & Subtle animation added a youthful wink to the Italian luxury brand

Through creative problem solving across departments, we were able to design, build & launch two very distinct ecom storefronts that felt equally modern and true to their heritage. We retained Lanvin Group as a client to continue working together on iterative updates & optimizations, further customizing each experience.
